BULLETIN NOTICE:
To get the most visibility for your program,
send notices to church bulletins in May. You might find that in
your community, like ours, many people
travel in the summer and miss the notice. By advertising now, you catch them early,
and give them plenty of time to write their faith autobiography .
On page 158, you will find the Bulletin Notice. For those of you who do not have the
manual, click here for a sample
Bulletin Notice.
Some people have told me bulletin
advertising causes more trouble than it is worth. They say that public
notices draw the the wrong types of people - folks who are not really
ready for the experience. They prefer to get participants by word of
mouth only. That way they are sure the applicant is ready before he
or she applies.
I appreciate the wisdom of that
approach if a program has more applicants than it can handle. But
somehow we must find a way to reach people who are able and willing
to participate yet will not hear about the Exercises if we do not
advertise publicly. If you do use the notice, realize you might have
to reject some applicants.
